This session is designed for Spanish teachers who are interested in learning about Denton ISD's Spanish Acceleration Initiative via the credit by exam. We will explore the process to identify native and heritage Spanish-speaking students eligible for the exam, registration and testing procedures, current district-wide trends and data, and strategies to effectively meet the needs of students enrolling in advanced academics courses without prior world language instruction. This session is eligible for 3 exchange hours.

Participants will explore foundational principles of Special Education (SPED), including understanding disabilities, legal frameworks, and individualized support strategies.
Provides general and special education teachers, as well as campus administrators, with a foundational understanding of key special education laws, including IDEA, Section 504, and ADA. This course will cover legal requirements related to evaluations, IEP development, accommodations, discipline, and due process. Participants will learn how to navigate legal responsibilities, ensure compliance, and make informed decisions that uphold students' rights and support positive educational outcomes.
