This asynchronous professional development course is designed exclusively for 5th grade social studies teachers using TCi Social Studies Alive. Participants will explore the TCi platform at their own pace, learning how to navigate lessons, utilize digital tools, plan effectively, and implement engaging unit projects. This introductory course provides a comprehensive overview of the TCi program, helping teachers feel confident and prepared to bring history to life in their classrooms.
Secondary ELA educators are invited to engage in one of our favorite pastimes: reading! Featuring timely topics, evidence-based practices, and trusted secondary ELA experts, these book studies will provide an opportunity for you to learn at your own pace and grow in ELA practices this summer. The online book study for Building Thinking Classrooms will open on May 27 and close on July 31 in Canvas. You will be required to post in Canvas analyzing items within the book and how you will use the learning from the book within your classroom during the 2025-2026 school year to receive full credit. You will be contacted to pick up your book before the end of the school year and enrolled in the Canvas course. The district provides the book. (Space limited. Exchange day elgible. The book study for Common Ground: Second Language Acquisition Theory Goes to the Classroom will open on May 27th and close on July 31st. This book explores challenges and opportunities for communication-focused language teaching, effective learning experiences for student engagement, and practical strategies for SLA. By participating in this book study, you will commit to reading the book and responding to reflection questions in Canvas. This self-paced learning is eligible for 3 exchange hours. To join, contact your coordinator for a Canvas course invitation and to make arrangements to get your book. You can either pick up the book at the PDC or request delivery via inter-campus mail. The district provides the book at no cost.
